The Café Baking Co. was born out of a desire to have delicious breads served at Café at the Mall and 10 North Trade Café Bakery. Both restaurants feature fresh foods made from quality ingredients and it goes without saying that the foods should be complimented by quality breads.
The Café Baking Co. features artisan style or “handmade breads” produced using natural ingredients, naturally leavened doughs, long proofing times for the best flavors and time honored techniques for developing many unique and delicious breads.
The Café Baking Co. produces many types of breads from Italian Ciabatta, to the dense all rye German Volkornbrot, to an English style Currant loaf as well as our delicious multigrain dough from which we produce loaves and rolls. Many of our artisan style breads take 24-48 hours to make. This gives the breads better flavors and eating qualities than commercially produced breads.
Most of our breads have no added oils, fats, refined sugars or dairy ingredients. We use whole grain flours from wheat, rye, corn as well as seeds and nuts in our breads. We use unbleached, unbromated flours, and never add preservatives or additives to our products.
The Café Baking Co also produces delectable desserts such as cakes, pies, cookies, tarts, brownies, bars, fresh fruit cobblers, scones, cinnamon rolls. These are produced in the same artisan tradition as our breads using all natural quality ingredients…unsalted butters, bittersweet chocolates, fresh fruits, locally harvested berries, nuts. Trans fats are never used.
The goal of the restaurant and bakery is to serve delicious foods made from quality ingredients in a beautiful and friendly setting. We believe that our customers can taste the difference!
